When Jack,Tim and Betty Webb started Saratoga Masonry Supply in 1980, their goal was to go beyond merely filling a void for masonry building products between Albany and Glens Falls.

"We've seen businesses come and go", they said. "Some thrive and grow while others falter and fade away. Our goal was to thrive and also to grow."

Success they thought depended on more than just carrying quality products-such as Champlain Stone, Rockwood landscape and L+S precast stone- of which they could be personally proud.

"Our ultimate concept from the very first was to provide personalized service", they said, "We believe that all customers deserve and are entitled to that. We also paid close attention to detail and listened carefully to what our customers had to say."

The Webb's formula for success paid off when, within two years, they added The Little Stove Shop in a corner of Saratoga Masonry's building. The name "Little" was quickly outgrown, and the stove shop was moved into its own building next door. In 1997, that still-growing business was renamed "Saratoga Fireplace and Stove.

Eventually Jack and Betty turned both ventures over to their son, Timothy, and retired.

As President of the side-by-side business, the younger Webb said that the two compliment each other.

The younger Webb has also expanded both businesses, for example, Saratoga Fireplace and Stove also stocks barbecue grills by such makers as Holland, Broil King, Beefeater and Fire Magic. Webb and his staff are still listening to customers' comments and feedback.

The National Fireplace Institute is the only nationally recognized certifing agency in the industry, and we are in an on-going program to educate and certify all of our people.

We regularly attend rigorous factory training in order to remain on the cutting edge of ever changing technology.
